Is there are difference between CRM Software and Customer Relationship Management Software?

This is a common question that we get about all the different variations on names of CRM Software.  There is CRM, Contact Management Software, Customer Relationship Software, etc.  They all fall under the broad category of CRM Software and you can be sure that when someone is referencing customer relationship management software that they are likely all on the same page.

But, it should be noted that there are absolutely differences between the different types of CRM Software programs and some are more focused on one element than others.  For instance, there are very good lead management programs available that help salespeople systematically follow-up with their leads and keep track of where there prospects are in the sales process.  Other programs are much better at serving as true customer relationship management software programs because they are only meant for keeping customer notes and have limited ability for reporting or any pipeline management.  These programs are best for customer service positions and the need to document accounts.  Still others, are good for everything and those are the full fledged CRM Software that are good for lead management, customer relationship management, and contain the massive reporting that most larger organizations desire.

So, everything depends on your needs and the needs of your organization.  There is absolutely a fit for you out there and it's just a matter of tracking it down.
